Join us to watch short film 'Freezing'
Posted on May 11, 2016
Sat on the floor, huddled around a projector and a make-shift screen, the team watched ‘Freezing’ for the very first time. A film which Rob, our London based Marketer-come film maker had created with the help of Allpress. We were not disappointed (and hopefully you won’t be either).
Some of the finest surfing beaches in the world are within striking distance of our Allpress Roastery Cafés - Bondi in Sydney, The Pass in Byron Bay, Piha on the North Island of New Zealand. Many of us turn up to work with sand between our toes.
In April 2015 Rob and his friend Jeremy Joyce took a film crew to Iceland to make a cold water surf movie called ‘Freezing’. Shot over eight days on the southern peninsula of Iceland the boys swam with seals in a glacial lagoon, hid from savage hail storms in the wreckage of a crashed aeroplane and surfed some heavy waves breaking onto snow-covered beaches of black sand. Allpress UK’s espresso technician, Tom Hobday, swapped his spanner for a boom mic to record sound while another technician, Micky Dow, created some original music for the score. ‘Freezing’ is a journey to the icy fringes of cold water exploration – in search of a mythical wave – that pushes friendships, frontiers and fortitude to their very limits.
The film was premiered at the London Surf Film Fest in October winning “Viewer’s Choice” and “Best British Film” awards as well as picking up ”Best Original Screenplay” at the MIMPI Surf and Skate festival in Rio.
Arrive at 6pm with the film starting at 7pm. If you would like to join us in either Melbourne or Sydney please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org with your Roastery location.
