In 1986, the love of traditional Italian espresso prompted Michael Allpress to leave his career as a chef and establish one of New Zealand’s first specialist espresso coffee companies, Allpress Espresso. Ten years later, Michael combined his talents with lifelong friend and well known Sydney restaurateur, Tony Papas to sucessfully take Allpress Coffee into the Australian market. More recently Michael and Tony recognised the growing demand for excellent espresso in the UK and 2010 marked further expansion to Shoreditch, London. Now in 2012, Allpress Tokyo is on track to open. Allpress is considered a leading specialty coffee roaster, successfully satisfying two distinct groups of customers - cafe owners and cafe lovers - always going to extraordinary lengths to provide best possible tasting coffee.
